A. Overview: Approval - City of Amarillo/Amarillo College Affiliation Agreement:
This item approves a two-year (August 2013 through July 31, 2015) affiliation agreement between the City and Amarillo College. This agreement continues the clinical training of Amarillo College nursing students in Amarillo Department of Public Health Clinics and/or Public Health activities. This cooperative medical training and public health partnership is beneficial to the Department of Public Health, the Amarillo College Nursing program and the citizens of the community.

Overview: This item approves and accepts two Continuum of Care grant agreements with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the Permanent Housing Project (formerly called Shelter Plus Care) and the Transitional Housing Program (formerly known as Supportive Housing). Both programs are one year renewals and reflect a 30% increase in total funding. The match requirements will be provided by the partner agencies.
Overview: Permanent Housing Project links rental assistance to supportive services for hard to serve homeless persons with disabilities and their families. Primarily, those served have serious mental illness; have chronic problems with alcohol or drugs, or both. The grant requires supportive services be provided to these individuals in an amount equal to the rental assistance. Texas Panhandle Centers provides client services such as case management, counseling, life skills training, vocational rehabilitation, pharmacological management, and psychiatric services.
Overview: Transitional Housing Program provides assisted housing and case management services to homeless women and homeless women with children. The Case Management Services will be provided by the Downtown Women's Center.
