Award to low responsive bidder: L D Kemp Excavating, Inc - $693,160.80
Overview: This item awards a construction contract for the installation of an impervious liner connecting Cell 4 and Cell 2 at Amarillo's solid waste landfill located west of the City. The installation of the liner is required by federal and state environmental regulations to prevent landfill deposits from leaching into the underlying soil and underground water formations. The cost of the project is 10.5% less than the estimated cost. Funding for the project is available in the previous Solid Waste Capital Improvement budget.
C. Award - Replacement of Heating and Air Conditioning Units at Building 602 at Rick Husband International Airport:
Award to low responsive bidder: G & H Heat and Air, Inc. - $35,700.00
Overview: This item awards a contract for the removal and installation of three 10-ton HVAC package units for a portion of Building 602 at Rick Husband International Airport. The existing units are currently not operational and cannot be repaired. Funding for the contract is available in the Airport operating budget.
D. Approval - Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) Project
Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc. - Relentless 525 Expansion:
Overview: This item approves AEDC funding participation on a 249,000 square foot building on a 20 acre site for the production of the Bell Helicopter Relentless 525 and other aircraft programs. The total cost of this project is estimated to be $27 million. AEDC will provide the land, a grant of $4,240,000 for site improvements for the new facility and a grant of $760,000 for relocating equipment. Upon completion, this facility will employ 100+ workers with an estimated annual payroll of approximately $10 million. This project is recommended for approval by the AEDC Board of Directors.
