A. Purchase - Police Radios:
Award to Motorola Solutions c/o WT Services on the Houston Galveston
Area Council (HGAC) Cooperative Purchasing Contract -- $190,921.60
Overview: This item approves the purchase of 13 portable (handheld) and 32 mobile (car mounted) radios for the Amarillo Police Department SWAT and Narcotics units. The requested radios are replacements for existing units that do not provide the necessary capabilities and will not meet federally mandated narrowband requirements. The new radios meet federal requirements for narrowband capability and provide enhanced functionality to increase officer safety and interoperability. Funding for this purchase is entirely from the FY 2010 State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant program.
B. Approval - Junior League of Amarillo Volunteer Agreement:
Parties: City of Amarillo and the Junior League of Amarillo
Overview: This item approves an agreement whereby the Junior League of Amarillo will provide volunteers and funding from their Community Trust Fund to the Amarillo Zoo. Under the proposed agreement, the Junior League will provide a minimum of five volunteers to assist in providing visitor services at the Zoo. This agreement does not create a financial obligation on the part of the City of Amarillo.
C. Approval - Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 Incentive Project:
Amarillo College - 1314 South Polk Street
Developer Agreement for Streetscape Improvements -- $50,000
Overview: This item approves a project to fund streetscape improvements in the public right-of-way at the Amarillo College Polk Street Campus, 1314 South Polk Street. The streetscape improvements will include twenty-seven (27) trees, twenty-seven (27) pedestrian lights, associated planters and new sidewalks adjacent to the property along Polk Street and 12th Avenue. The estimated cost of the improvements is approximately $102,600, and the amount requested from the TIRZ is $50,000.
Overview: This project is consistent with the goals of the TIRZ and all activities funded through this project will be performed on the public right-of-way. The TIRZ #1 Board of Directors and the Potter County Commissioners Court have approved this project and it is now recommended to the Amarillo City Commission for final approval.
